SERGIO Ramos has told Manchester United that confidence is sky high at Real Madrid after back-to-back El Clasico wins.
The Spanish giants travel to Old
Trafford having conceded an away goal in the first leg of the Champions
League clash three weeks ago.
But, since then, they have beaten
Barcelona twice — and Ramos reckons that gives them a massive boost
ahead of tomorrow’s return.
The defender said, “Psychologically, the
team has strengthened after the Clasicos and we go to Manchester
convinced we can go through. We know we can go through.
“We gained a lot of morale by beating
Barcelona again. It’s a tremendous satisfaction for the team but now,
more than ever, we must keep our feet on the ground.
“We haven’t achieved anything yet. It’s two Clasicos — one of them gave us the ticket to the Spanish Cup final and the second helped us reduce the gap in La Liga.
“We still have such a long way to go but
the desire is to eliminate United at Old Trafford. But we will go to
Manchester showing great respect to our opponent.”
Madrid are still 13 points behind
Barcelona in La Liga and know their season rests on their titanic clash
with Alex Ferguson’s side.
All the euphoria from the wins over Barcelona will disappear instantly if Real fail at Old Trafford.
Ramos added, “What is true is that the
squad is going through a brilliant moment of form. Earlier this season
we conceded many goals from setpieces and now it’s the others who do
that.
“Now we have a game of huge importance
in Manchester and we are going to try to take advantage from these last
few results and hope it goes the same way.”
