FC Barcelona player Lionel Messi has polished off his record year with his 91st and final goal of 2012 in Barcelona’s 3-1 win at Valladolid on Saturday, December 22, 2012.
Lionel Messi is confirmed to have scored his 91st goals of the year with 79 goals for Barcelona: 59 in the Spanish league, 13 in the Champions League, five in the Copa Del Rey and two in the Spanish Super Cup.
Lionel Messi had 12 for Argentina; five in World Cup qualifiers and seven in friendly matches.

Hard Times Ahead for Private Jet Owners in Niger

PRIVATE JETS IN NIGERIA Hard Times Ahead for Private Jet Owners in Nigeria

Henceforth nothing will be taken for granted in the general aviation sector:
“Most of the people that own private jets in Nigeria are big people who ordinarily may not want to obey rules at times. But the minister said that the recent happening in the military circle was also a wake-up call for the civil aviation as well.
“It now means that the Ministry of Aviation and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority will be paying more attention to the operators of private and chartered jets/helicopters in the country.”
An insider source in the Ministry of Aviation said that the federal government has decided to go tough on private jet owners and operators in the country.
The indication is that FG will impose stringent measures to avert disaster in the general aviation section. It was leanrt that this was the outcome of an emergency meeting between the Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Stella Oduah, and heads of the aviation agencies in Abuja last Wednesday.
At the meeting, which ended around 3am, it was agreed that there should be imposition of heavy sanctions on any non-compliance with standard safety procedure. The source, who was present at the meeting, said the new arrangement would also forbid pilots of private and chartered jets from flying above the normal flying hours to avoid avoidable more air disasters.

The PPRO said the victim who had machete cuts all over her body was rescued and taken to the hospital where she was treated.
Jinadu said the suspect confessed to the police that he was sent by a man who needed the head for ritual purposes.
The statement read in part, “Operatives of the Ekiti command arrested Jinadu, 30, who lives No. 8, Eleguru Street, Ado-Ekiti, for attempting to take Kacha’s life. The suspect was arrested on December 19 at Sharp Corner Hotel, Ado-Ekiti, where he inflicted severe machete cuts on the victim.
“During interrogation, he confessed that he was sent by a man at Ikere to bring a human head for rituals. His confession led to the arrest of his accomplices, Seun Ariyo, 28, and Tope Bebere, 35, both of Ikere-Ekiti.
“A blood-stained machete and charms were recovered from the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital and she is responding to treatment. The suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigation is completed.”
The police was silent on how she escaped.
Meanwhile, the police in the state have also arrested one Tope Olowoyo, who is alleged to be notorious for stealing buses.
According to Jinadu, the suspect was seen driving a Mazda bus with registration number, XB 624 YRE, in a dangerous manner and was accosted by policemen on patrol.
Olowoyo allegedly confessed that he stole the bus from Agodi Gate area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The PPRO said, “Investigation showed that the suspect is a smart crook who specialises in stealing buses from the parking lot. He led detectives to Zuba, Abuja to recover a Toyota bus with registration number, LG 35 ANG, stolen from Ikere on November 30. Also, detectives recovered from Ilesha, a Nissan bus registration number, XK 790 LSD, stolen from Agbado, Lagos.”

I Fed Okonjo-Iweala’s Mum With Bread, Groundnuts – Suspect

A member of the 10-man kidnap gang who earlier this month abducted the 82-year-old Prof, Kamene Okonjo, mother of the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, yesterday, confessed his involvement in the abduction and narrated how he fed the retired professor of sociology with groundnut, water and bread in the kidnappers’ den.
The suspected kidnapper, Andrew Dime, aka Olokpa, 32, who hails from Enikorogha in Edo State, however, told Vanguard that he was only hired by the second-in-command of the gang to supply food to Prof. Okonjo on two occasions at a fee of N100,000.
Delta State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, on the other hand, told Vanguard that Prof. Okonjo was kept in the custody of the suspect, who was in-charge of her feeding.
The second-in-command of the gang allegedly swindled him when he bolted with his N1 million share of the ransom collected for the release of Prof. Okonjo.
Apparently, to settle scores, the police said the suspect formed a new kidnap gang, which abducted an octogenarian at Aboh in Ndokwa area of the state.  But having obtained a database on the group after its leader, Nwaeze Nwosa, aka Bolaji was shot dead in Asaba, the police were able to track down the suspect.
Aduba told Vanguard that the police set a trap for him when it got information that he was in dire need of money for the yuletide by convincing him to sell one of the guns used for the abduction of Prof. Okonjo, which was in his custody. He fell for the trap and negotiated a price of N300,000 for a pump-action gun with a police officer, who posed as a buyer. He was, thereafter, arrested at Koka junction, Asaba, when he came to collect the cash.
Dark-complexioned Andrew, who spoke to Vanguard in an interview, debunked the claim that he formed a new kidnap gang and that he was the one that negotiated the sale of pump-action gun, which was used to ensnare him.
A police source said he was being economical with the truth, adding: “Most of these people (referring to criminals) will never tell you the truth when you arrest them until you get other members of the gang to confront them.”

I Fed Okonjo Iweala’s Mum With Bread, Groundnuts – Suspect

Below are the excerpts of the interview with the suspect
What is your name?
Andrew Idime.
How old are you?
32.
Where are you from?
I am from Enikorogha, Ovia South-West Local Government Area of  Edo State.
Where do you live?
I live at Army Barracks, Onitsha.
Do you know why you are here in police cell?
For now, I know why I am arrested. Some friends of mine, they indulged themselves in kidnapping act. One of them is Chiboy and another is Biggy.  The person I know very well is Chiboy. It was through this Chiboy that I met Biggy. I was trading on used shoes and my business was not moving well. So Chiboy called me that there is something that I was going to do. I asked him what it was, he said there was somebody I was going to drop food for and that I was going to drop food twice and that they would settle me. Therefore, I went there truly, he brought an Okada man (motorcyclist), the Okada man took me there, and I dropped the food twice.
He said that if I dropped the food there that he was going to call them. That if I dropped the food, I should call to let him know that I have dropped the food beside that bridge on that Kwale road. That when I dropped the food, they would come and take the food. I went there twice and dropped the food at that particular spot. They said they were going to give me N100,000. But the N100,000 I did not see it.
Were you not told who was kidnapped?
I do not know the exact person they kidnapped. They did not tell me. I am a neutral person. My job there was to go and drop the food.
Did you not know you were doing wrong thing as the person was in the hospital?
No, he said that his boys need food so I should go and drop groundnut, bread and water for them.
Why did he send you, why did he not drop the food himself?
He is a leader. He said he wants me to, at least have some token in the business.
Which business are you talking?
He said he had involved himself in kidnapping business
Which means you were told what they actually did?
They told me.
Are you saying you do not know when you were dropping the food that you will be counted as one of them if caught?
Yes, I knew.
So, why did you take part?
It is because of my condition
What is your condition?
I am not living well; my business is not moving well. I needed little money to assist my business.
What we heard was that Prof. Okonjo was kept in your custody?
No, no, no, I swear to God. I do not live in Delta State.
You have a house in Asaba?
Of course, I have a house but I have checked out for a long time based on the rent. The house was too costly for me
You said you were neutral, then, tell us what Chiboy and others told you about how they kidnapped Prof. Okonjo?
Until they rounded up their business, even up to date, I have not seen Chiboy. I was holding one of his numbers, but right now, the number is not going through.
There is no way you would be asked to go and drop food for somebody that was kidnapped without you asking or finding out the story of how the person was kidnapped. What  exactly were you told?
They only told me they have kidnapped somebody and that the person is at Kwale. That what I am going to do is to take the food to a particular bridge, that if I get to that bridge, I should flash him and he was going to call his boys. That if I dropped the food, I should not delay there. That I should drop the food, enter the bike immediately and move.
Were you taking bike from Onitsha to that place?
No, he was the person that brought the bike, not from Asaba. I entered bus to Ibusa and from Ibusa, he would now bring the bike. The bike person, it seems, is his private bike man, so the bike person would now take me to there.
From the story that you have told so far, it seemed you were party to the kidnapping?
I have involved myself already because of my going there to give them food, which has already made me a party. However, I do not know the exact person that they kidnapped but I have involved myself in this act.
You were arrested when you came to sell a gun?
No, the boy that wanted to sell the gun ran away.
Tell us how sharing of money brought misunderstanding among the kidnappers?
In bringing of food, he (Chiboy, the leader) told me to bring the food twice.
Did you buy food with your money?
He bought it; he was the one that brought the money. He does not reside in one place. He promised that he was going to give me N50,000 each. So, I accepted to go and drop and collect N50,000 because it was an easy one. Therefore, I went there twice. However, when they brought the money I did not see him. The N100,000 they promised as my share I did not see. Who am I to go and challenge him?
How were you arrested?
The police arrested me yesterday (last Thursday) because there was one of my friends, Chuks. He said that based on this Christmas period, that he does not have money and that he wanted to sell one of his pump actions. So he negotiated with one boy, so when the boy came, they were three in the car. He told me to go and inform them to drop and come out so that they would negotiate. I was to tell them to off the motor engine and that Chuks was waiting down there. Therefore, when they grabbed me, he ran away. In the process when I was asking what’s all about, I was arrested.
We learnt you also involved yourself in another kidnapping, what is your role in the new kidnap gang?
My role was to be with the man in the bush. I was supposed to stay in that bush with the victim

AKON ATTEMPTS GOING INTO THE CROWD AT THE UJ EUSENE STADIUM TO SETTLE A FIGHT
AKON ATTEMPTS GOING INTO THE CROWD AT THE UJ EUSENE STADIUM TO SETTLE A FIGHT
Now, this is one hilarious and daring news to set off your Sunday on a good footing. Akon was in Cross River state to perform at the annual Calabar Carnival along side Psquare, MayD and Jmartins. The Senegalese born American R & B superstar was busy doing his performance inside the UJ Esuene stadium when he noticed a group of boys fighting and asked them to stop.
According to what we gathered, the singer threatened to go through the mammoth crowd to settle the fight if they wouldn’t stop but the fighting group were too busy drawing blood to listen and before the fans knew what was happening, Akon had jumped into the crowd even as his bodyguards were taken by surprise.
He reportedly kept screaming “Lift me up..ama go out there, take me there.” Instead of lifting him to where the fight was taking place, the crowd was more interested in stripping him of his belt and the left leg of his shoe. By the time his bodyguards reached him, his belt buckle was gone too.
Not one to give up easily, Akon went back stage and to the crowd’s bewilderment, the singer got into some kind of protective balloon, stood on stage and then suddenly leapt into the crowd, shielded by that balloon as the crowd kept throwing him around the stadium like a ball.
Eventually, he fulfilled his mission and the Calabar crowd steered him safely back towards the stage where he came out of the balloon sending the crowd into a wild frenzy.

Barcelona Rejects Staggering €250m Move From Russian Club For Messi

MessiIn what could only signify his unalloyed commitment to the only professional club he has ever known, and a statement to all other clubs who would attempt to lure him away from the Camp Nou in the future, Barcelona talisman, Leo Messi, has reportedly turned down a mouth watering deal from an unnamed Russian club who were more than willing to trigger his €250 million release clause, in addition to paying the three-time Ballon d’Or winner a yearly salary of €30 million.
In an article by Barcelona-based sports daily, Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona and Messi both mutually agreed to reject the offer, despite the incredible sum of money it would have fetched the Catalan giants if they yielded.
Leo’s father, Jorge Messi, club president, Sandro Rosell and Leo himself, discussed and rejected the offer, with Leo citing two reasons; he is comfortable with his teammates and his goal is to win trophies, something that may not come as frequently with Messi as the star surrounded by a cast of players not as in-sync as he is with his teammates in Barcelona.
The second reason is due to the birth of his son, Thiago and his fiancee, Antonella, and his desire to remain in Barcelona and raise his family

Pastor Chris Foresees Doom In Nollywood!

nollywood 3 600x600 Pastor Chris Foresees Doom In Nollywood!

According to Pastor Chris C. Godwin of Fire House Ministries, in Lagos, God has revealed to him the doom that lies ahead for Nollywood and its practitioners.
“Hello my brethren, by the special grace of God, I am Pastor Chris C. Godwin, the president of World Missionary Assistance Nigeria and the Shepherd of Fire House Ministries Lagos. I am writing to the media based on what I have foreseen coming up against the film industry of this our beloved Nation, of which if care is not taken, big calamity will befall this growing industry.”
“The devil is fighting this film industry very well, most of these actors end up behaving and living what they acted in films, which is not suppose to be. After acting a particular film, no film is ordinary, there is a spirit behind every film you act, and every life you expose, every society you expose, every deity you expose.”
After acting, some of them do not go for deliverance in a proper place and some of these deliverance are not done in a proper way, that’s why the Devil and these dark kingdoms keep getting these actors, believe it or not, it is not every man of God is fit or called for deliverance, most of these cosmetic preachers are not fit or called for that. Deliverance is not standing in the pulpit blowing grammar, many people can preach the Gospel even Satan preached the Gospel when he tempted Jesus after he fasted for 40 days and 40 nights, Devil Quoted Psalm 91.’’
Pastor Chris C. Godwin is not a new person to a few of Nollywood stars such as Segun Arinze, Former President of AGN, Brother Emeka Jonathan DGN, Sis Louisa, a lot of them who have in one way or the other patronized the man of God for special prayers and deliverance.

Bread, rice, popcorn and 6 others you should not eat

Making healthy food choices is often difficult and confusing, but there are a number of specific foods to avoid in almost every circumstance because they provide virtually no health benefits while posing plenty of health risks. Here are nine foods you should never eat again if you care about preserving your long-term health…White bread, refined flour
These are generally toxic for the body because they have been stripped of virtually all vitamins, minerals, fibre, and other important nutrients. They are not properly digestable and assimilated. Refined white flour has also been bleached with chlorine and brominated with bromide, two poisonous chemicals that have been linked to causing thyroid and organ damage.
Tip: Choose  brown bread or whole wheat bread over white bread. Reduce consumption of patries made from white flour.
Conventional frozen meals
With the exception of a few truly healthy frozen meal brands, most conventionally-prepared frozen meals are loaded with preservatives, processed salt, hydrogenated oils and other artificial ingredients, not to mention the fact that most frozen meals have been heavily pre-cooked, rendering their nutrient content minimal.

rice Bread, rice, popcorn and 6 others you should not eat

Tip: As much as possible, eat meals in their fresh, unpreserved state.
White rice
Like white bread, white rice has been stripped of most of its nutrients, and separated from the bran and germ, two natural components that make up rice in its brown form. Even so-called “fortified” white rice is nutritionally deficient, as the body still processes this refined food much differently than brown rice, which is absorbed more slowly, and does not cause the same spike in blood sugar that white rice does.
Tip: Eat “unpolished” rice as much as possible in place of the “parboiled” or “polished” variety.
Microwaveable popcorn
This processed food which is a favourite among moviegoers and regular snackers is one of the unhealthiest foods you can eat. Practically, every component of microwaveable popcorn is unhealthy and disease-promoting. It contains a chemical known as diacetyl that can actually destroy the lungs.
Cured meat products
Deli meats, sausage, hot dogs, bacon, and many other meats are often loaded with sodium nitrite and other chemical preservatives linked to causing heart disease and cancer.
Tip: Have preference only for fresh, uncured meats.
Conventional protein, energy bars.
These are meal replacements containing processed soy protein, refined sugar, hydrogenated fat, and other harmful additives that contribute to chronic illness.
Margarine
Hidden in all sorts of processed foods, margarine, a hydrogenated trans-fat oil, is something you will want to avoid at all costs for your health. Contrary to popular belief, butter and saturated fats in general are not unhealthy, especially when they are derived from pastured animals that feed on grass rather than corn and soy.
Tip: Extra-virgin coconut oil or olive oil are much better than margarine.
Soy milk and soy-based meat substitutes
Nearly all non-organic soy ingredients are of genetically modified origin, most soy additives are processed using a toxic chemical known as hexane, which is linked to causing birth defects, reproductive problems, and cancer. Unfermented soy is also highly estrogenic, which can distort hormone balance.
”Diet” products
Many so-called “diet” products on the market today contains artificial sweeteners like aspartame and sucralose, both of which are linked to causing neurological damage, gastrointestinal problems, and endocrine disruption. Many diet products also contain added chemical flavoring agents to take the place of fat and other natural components that have been removed to artificially reduce calorie content.
Tip: Stick with whole foods that are as close to nature as possible, including high-fat foods grown the way nature intended, and your body will respond surprisingly well.

Anybody Who Knows Osaze Should Advise Him – Victor Ikpeba

victor ikpeba Anybody Who Knows Osaze Should Advise Him – Victor Ikpeba

Former Nigerian international, Victor Ikpeba, has expressed disappointment in Osaze Odemwingie’s recent outbursts on Twitter and the attacks on his person by the player.
While denying reports that he also retaliated Odemwingie’s attacks via a psuedo Twitter account bearing his name and image, Victor Ikpeba said, “I don’t have a Twitter account, my organisation, Supersport, knows that. I would rather spend my precious time discussing with my family rather than engage anybody on Twitter or Facebook.”
Victor Ikpeba further decried the bad precedent Odemwingie was setting for future players which he termed ‘dangerous.’
“People close to him (Odemwingie) should advise him. I’m waiting for the federation to issue a statement on this matter. They must take action because this is a dangerous precedent because if they don’t, others will do the same thing in future.
“How can he just go about attacking coaches, ex-players and even his colleagues like that? I played for Nigeria, I was criticised but I moved on. I was not picked for the 2002 World Cup, I moved on. Why can’t he move on,” Victor Ikpeba queried.
“In life, people will be critical of you, not everybody can agree with you. That is why credit should be given to players like Taye Taiwo and Obafemi Martins.
“They have played for this country for long, but they were omitted and they are not complaining. That’s good behaviour” Victor Ikpeba, a Supersport soccer pundit concluded.

Pete Edochie Is Not Dead

pete edochie Pete Edochie Is Not Dead

Contrary to rumour flying round that veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie is dead, it has been confirmed that the actor is not dead as rumoured.
We got from reliable sources who know Pete Edochie too well that the legendary role interpreter is hale and hearty. Though we were unable to speak with him directly, but we got from good authorities that the death hoax is totally false with no iota of truth in it.
This is not the first time Pete Edochie is being trailed with death news. In 2011, he was rumoured to be dead until he dispelled the rumour later on.

” Dbanj’s Koko Concert Was A Complete Mess” – Disappointed fans vent anger on Twitter

koko concert Dbanjs Koko Concert Was A Complete Mess Disappointed fans vent anger on Twitter

Dbanj disappointed his fans at the concert.
Micro-blogging site, Twitter, was agog with criticism of the end of the year concert by popular Afropop musician, Dbanj, tagged Koko Concert held at the Eko Atlantic Beach, Lagos .
Many of Dbanj’s frustrated fans who took to twitter to vent their anger described the concert as lacklustre and ill-managed.
In the past weeks, the concert has enjoyed a lot of hype in the media and was one of the most expensive musical concerts in the country. Some fans paid as much as N1 million to attend the concert which also has Hollywood actor Idris Elba; America rappers, Pusha T and Big Sean; as well as Nigerian-born British rapper Tinnie Tempah; on parade.
Fans were particularly disappointed by Dbanj’s performance. Many of them who went to the concert hoping to hear him perform some of his popular tunes were heartbroken as the musician chose to perform his most recent tunes that many have problems relating to.
“Dbanj does not have any song to sing.. Terrible. Let tomorrow come first,” said a fan tweeting from the handle @RicDizZle.
“Sing Suddenly or Mogbonofelifeli if you know say e sure for you!” @RicDizZle continued referring to some the musician’s popular tunes.
Dbanj, who is used to a mimed performance, had problems adjusting to performing to a live band, some attendees said.
“I think Dbanj is the worst performer of the night #kokoconcert. Easier to perform with a CD. Live performance no be beans [not easy],” said a fan tweeting from the handle @ebraheemshehu
“I have a lot of respect for #Nigerian artistes who perform with a live band but i don’t think #Dbanj killed it today. #kokoconcert,” said Fidelis Mbah, a reporter with the BBC.

From tiresome trek along the sandy beach, inadequate parking space, to Dbanj’s fake American accent, the general perception was that the overpriced concert was a failure.

The Guy and his Chick, so lovely.
Remember this couple? Their wedding at Ikoyi registry earlier this year made headlines in Nigeria. Mostly because he’s a young Naija guy in his 20′s and she’s an European woman in her 80′s.

The 2012 edition of one of Africa’s biggest street carnivals, the Calabar Carnival, lived up to expectations as it attracted more foreign tourists who visited Calabar for the carnival.
Calabar Carnival is gradually matching up to the standard big carnivals like the Nottinghill Carnival in the UK and the Rio Carnival in Brazil have set.
Even with absence of the ailing governor of the state, Liyel Imoke, Calabar Carnival didn’t fail to hold as the atmosphere around the streets of Calabar was lively. Top Africa’s pay-TV provider, DSTV did a live broadcast of the event. Both local and international media had their reporters covering the carnival.
Brazilian Sampa performed on the stage right before the performance of TRINADAD AND TOBAGO who used drums and acoustics to play many local tunes.
2012 CALABAR INTERNATIONA CARNIVAL is great fun filled event that truly worths all the troubles and roads closed to allow the processions of the entertainers. The carnival was started by Donald Duke, governor of the state between 1999-2007.

Robbery is the Only Job I Can Do – Arrested Robber

Kolawole (center)and the suspected members of his gang

“You again”? This was the question posed by an operative of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Ikeja, Lagos, on sighting a member of a robbery gang that was arrested recently by his colleagues.

The suspect, Kolawole Ajayi, was discovered to have been arrested on two occasions by the Squad for robbery and charged to court. Between 2006 till date, he was discovered to have served five years in jail. But after serving each jail term, rather than turning a new leaf, the recalcitrant suspect would go back to his own vomit, more hardened.
Hear him: “I am a School Certificate holder and also computer literate. I was formerly selling computer and phone accessories at Computer Village but I had no shop. All I was doing then, was to hawk them along the street of Computer Village. That was since 2006. Along the line, I started buying stolen goods and laptops from some of my friends in computer village. You see, most of the items they sell along the street in Computer Village are stolen. But because I was making huge profits from it, I could not resist the temptation of continuing.
“I was arrested in 2006 by policemen from Mosafejo division for buying a stolen laptop. I was charged to the Igbosere High court but was granted bail, after awaiting trial for two months in the prison.”
His mere visit to the prison apparently opened his eyes to other acts of criminality,as barely had he returned than he graduated into other forms of robbery.

Other suspected members of the gang
“In 2007, after I was released, I got a gun and started robbing people at gun point. It was a one man’s show. I stole laptops and phones at gunpoint. But again, I was arrested and charged to the Ikeja High Court, from where I was remanded in Kirikiri prison where I spent two years”.
After serving his two years jail term, he reportedly continued what he knew how to do best and as expected, was arrested, charged to court and ended up in his second home, the Kirikiri prison for the third time!
Like a dog that would always return to its vomit, the Ogun state-born suspect who was released after one year, continued his heinous crime. But this time around, he decided to form his own gang which specialized in armed banditry.
“After I was released in 2012, I went to the African shrine in May, where I met Olalekan, Femi, Sylvester and Lucky. We got friendly and exchanged phone numbers and from there I formed a gang of five. So far we have operated in areas like Ikosi, Ketu, Ogudu, Dolphin estate and Magodo.
And our targets are usually residential homes. Before operation, we would just be roaming round the area until we see a building we could easily penetrate”
The gang as gathered, started operating in June. In the month of December, they reportedly intensified their operation in preparation for the Christmas celebration. But unfortunately for them, they met their water loo, following their arrest.
The gang as gathered, stormed a building at Dolphin Estate, Ikoyi, in the first week of December, where they dispossessed their victims of cash and other valuables.
But while the operation was on, one of the residents was said to have alerted policemen attached to Dolphin division, who stormed the scene. Sighting the policemen, the robbers scampered in different directions for escape. But unfortunately for one of them later identified as Chibueze, he was shot in the thigh as he attempted to scale through the fence.
He was transferred to SARS and during interrogation mentioned the names of other members of his gang. Sources at SARS said it took them two weeks to trail Kolawole. His arrest, reportedly led to those of four members of the gang.
Asked why he did not resign from robbery, he replied: “ Robbery is the only job I can do. My several visits to the prison have hardened me. So, I can’t do a decent job other than robbery.”
