What proper nutrition entails

While it’s true that the fields of diet and nutrition are areas of evolving research, there are some basic concepts you can keep in mind to be better equipped about dietary advice.
•Water: Water is essential for our bodies because it is in every cell, tissue, and organ in your body. That’s why getting enough water every day is important for your health. Water helps your body with the following: Keeps its temperature normal; lubricates and cushions your joints; protects your spinal cord and other sensitive tissues; gets rid of wastes through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements.
•Dietary fat: While fats are essential for normal body function, some fats are better for you than others. Trans fats, saturated fats and cholesterol are less healthy than polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats.
•Most of the fat that you eat should come from unsaturated sources: polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats. In general, nuts, vegetable oils, and fish are sources of unsaturated fats.

Why do South Africans hate Nigerians?

Bayo Olupohunda
Recently, some Nigerians living in South Africa were reported to have been victims of violence allegedly fuelled by xenophobia. Hate crimes against Nigerians living in South Africa are nothing new. Since the dismantling of apartheid, Nigerians and other African nationals living in the country of the Madiba have been the subjects of coordinated xenophobic violence reminiscent of what black South Africans themselves suffered during the apartheid era.  The story of this recent violence was not different from previous attacks. Reports of spontaneous assault by some South African members of Port Nolloth community were said to have targeted the Nigerian community living in the area.
They were reportedly chased out of their homes, their property looted and their shops burnt. The attackers have always accused the Nigerians of dealing in drugs. But the Nigerian community in South Africa has denied the allegation. They in turn have accused the South Africans of envy. They claimed South Africans have always felt threatened by the business success of Nigerians living in the country. Frequent attacks on Nigeria in South Africa have often grabbed media attention. Strangely, the South African government has uncharacteristically condemned the latest incident as xenophobia. Since 2006, hate crime has been on the increase. It peaked in 2008 with the widespread violence that targeted foreign nationals.

FIFA cancels Nigeria’s victory party

Super Eagles celebrating 2013 AFCON victory
A dinner party planned for the victorious Super Eagles on Monday night after the 6-1 defeat of Tahiti in their FIFA Confederation Cup match was cancelled at the instance of FIFA.
A PANA report late Tuesday said that the team was billed to have the dinner at Restaurant Atelier in Savassi centre in Belo Horizonte but FIFA officials, citing security reasons, prevented the Nigerian players from leaving their hotel at Belvedere. The FIFA security officials based their decision on the street protests in Belo Horizonte and some other parts of Brazil.
One of the organisers of the dinner, Olusegun Akinruli, lamented the turn of events.
He said, “It is sad, but we have to understand the concerns of FIFA. We would have loved to celebrate the victory with guests of Nigerian roots.”

"I don't do cheap money" Wizkid tweets

UNILAG students are accusing him of collecting N500k from them for a show and not showing up. I know Wizkid collects about N2m per show, so this N500k he supposedly collected is kinda strange.

Both parties can't really talk about the case for now because it's a police matter, but hopefully after they settle, we will find out what really happened.

Ribery, Benzema prostitution trial adjourned

The trial of French football stars Franck Ribery and Karim Benzema over claims they paid for sex with an underage call girl was adjourned for procedural reasons on Tuesday until 2014.
Benzema, a Real Madrid striker, and Ribery, a Bayern Munich winger, are to be tried on charges of paying Zahia Dehar, a prostitute-turned-fashion muse, for sex in 2008 and 2009, when she was only 16, then 17 years old. Neither footballer showed up in court on Tuesday.
The pair, both players in France’s national squad, have been under investigation since 2010 over the affair. They risk up to three years in jail and fines of €45,000 ($60,000) if found guilty of soliciting the services of an underage prostitute.

Oduamadi, Balotelli top FIFA’s performance index

Oduamadi
After a colourful and exciting first round of FIFA Confederations Cup matches that featured a flurry of goals, it is perhaps no surprise to see a couple of forwards at the top of the Castrol Index.
Almost half of the 16 goals seen so far in Brazil came in one match – Nigeria’s 6-1 win over tournament newcomers Tahiti – and the hat-trick scored by Nnamdi Oduamadi in Belo Horizonte has made him the Index’s early frontrunner.
What was impressive about Oduamadi’s contribution was his finishing accuracy. While Nigeria’s six goals came from 17 shots, the 22-year-old – who spent last season in Italy’s Serie B with Varese – scored with three from four. In fact he had just three goal attempts inside the Pacific Islanders’ penalty box but was in the right place to put the ball in the net on each occasion.
While Oduamadi’s treble earned him 9.55 points, Italy’s Mario Balotelli took 9.38 for his lively performance against Mexico, capped by the winning goal with 12 minutes remaining. Balotelli was a central figure throughout Sunday’s entertaining contest, offering an early statement of intent with a shot just over the crossbar and two more straight at goalkeeper Jose Corona. Indeed he had seven shots in total and his persistence paid off near the end when he powered through the Mexico defence and struck the winner with a fierce low drive.
